Hi all,
Hope you've all have had a safe holiday, The 2013 Formula 1 season will again kick off at Albert Park this year on the 14-17th of March.
At the 2011 Round 1 race, MR2 Club VIC was invited by CAMS to have a car club display of our finest on the grounds of Albert Park while the Grand Prix was on.
This thread is an EOI for VIC members or interstate guests who are interested in showing their MR2 as part of this club event.
 
The last time we did this we had 3 AW11s and 2 SW20s to represent our club. We hope to have a better diversity of cars this year with ZZW30s to turn up!
I remember that year seeing some interstate MR2s making the drive down to watch the grandprix, parked at local hotels. This would be a great way to get "free parking close to the event".

Date - 13th-17th March 2013

The last time we had this opportunity to display our cars, the cars had to be left at the track from the Wednesday before the first day of F1 proceedings.
The cars cannot be moved during the grandprix and could only be retrieved after the race had concluded on the Sunday.
This event is free for our CAMS affiliated club and we are actually awarded with a free 4 Day General Admission pass, for each of the participating owners and one guest.

With 2014 engine rule changes incoming after this season, this may be the last time to experience 2.4l V8s revving to 20,000RPM howling by on the track!!!

Unfortunately I have sold my AW, but my wife and I will be attending the race. Will definitely stop by and say hello!

VRTULX I think I may have even spoken to you last year in the grandstand, you were wearing your MR2 club hat?

What days will the cars be required to be hard parked?  I am considering a road trip to VIC soon to see what the MR2 scene is like over there, this could be interesting :)

Well I just asked my boss about leave, he's approved it :)
 
Anyone got a couch/spare bed that myself (and maybe the wife) could crash on for those days? :P

Senor_2 - Yeah that was me, I rebooked my tickets in the same seats, so I'll see you there again?
 
EssDub - in 2011 we had to drop off the cars on the Wednesday before the park was open to public. You could then drive out of the park after the main race on Sunday had finished. But it's the best idea to wait until then, since the public crowd are still walking around and you would need security to guide you out of Albert Park.
