Can anyone give me any feedback on different tyres that they've had?
I'm looking at getting some new 215/40 17's and 235/40 17's for my SW20 and would appreciate any comments on their tyres.
I definitely don't want anything too noisy or uncomfortable as i have to do long highway trips occasionally.

Thanks guys...

I havent had a lot of experience with various performance tyres as once I have found a tyre I like to generally stick to them.

The best all-rounder tyre I have had so far are the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT's. They have decent dry weather performance and have outstanding wet weather performance. Though at first I was disappointed with how they handled in the dry as I came from having Falken Semi-slicks on it before hand. But you get use to it quite quickly and you realise how capable the tyre really is. As for road noise they can be considered noisy but compared to a semi-slick they arent at all (If I get tired of listening to it....I just wind the windows up). They dont seem to wear out too quickly either; I got about 30-35k (rear tyres) out of them.

Im trying out the Sport Maxx GT's at the moment and can honestly say they are better again. They are similar to the TT's but with more dry weather performance and close the gap between a performance tyre and a semi-slick. Time will tell how quickly the GT's will wear but from what I have heard/read, they apparently wear quicker than the TT's and can expect to get about 20-25k (rear tyres) out of them.

I have been using Kumho KU31's on our STi and have been very happy with them and I wanted to run them on my MR2 but I was told they were being phased out and the tire that is replacing it is the KU39 which I went with and so far I am very impressed with them.
They are not noisy and they have great wet and dry braking and handling, as far as wear is concerned I have read that they wear a bit quicker than the KU31 but if they get something close to the KU31's did I will be very happy.

Can't go past Hankook ventus sport V12's for all round performance, wear and price. I've had them on my past 3 cars and would buy them over and over again. They're between $270-300 a corner, reign in my SW20, V35 and 944 without any problems, and on the V35 had done 35,000km, still well above the wear markers and good for at least another 10,000km. Compared with Bridgestone Potenza they're almost silent and much more grip, wet and dry.

Thanks worldwalker, i hadn't considered Hankooks. I look into them as an option.

595RSR is still my choice. Awesome dry grip. predictable wet weather grip and pretty good value for money.

We still supply these at reasonable prices too if you're keen.

I'm running RSR's and am very impressed. I came from stock 15' wheels with T1R's. I paid somewhere in the realm of $1,000 fitted for 215/40/17 & 235/40/17 but can't remember if this included postage from QLD.
