- Remember to be respectful when out on the track, if you have a far faster car behind you, do the right thing and move off the racing line to allow them to pass - nobody likes someone that treats a trackday like a door to door championship.

Also, if you are the faster car, don't be an ass and tail gate or pressure a slower car. The driver might not be as experience as you or it could be their first track day and they might not see you while caught up in all the nerves of being on the track

I think it's much safer to hold your line with a faster car coming up behind you.
I 've had a big scare with a slower car moving off the racing line after I had already pretty much commited to passing up the inside.
Slower car being a mini traveling 100 - 120kph, I was close to 200 and had to swap sides of the track on a bump and under brakes

I think if your the faster car it is best to let them know your there but be patient and let them make the move they feel comfortable with doing so there is no incidents.

of course this is what i would do, possibly not what others may do.

The best way is to do a regularity event on a race weekend. It will improve your driving no end.
There are some great books on driving. One I read was: Speed Secrets? Ross Bentley. Very popular books.
Have you considered driver training? This too will help you no end.

I usually just hold my line rather than moving around the track. If the car behind has a lot more power than myself they'll gun it around me down the next straight. If the car stuck behind me has similar power I'll ease off the throttle and point them in the direction to overtake me. It makes it clear what you're doing and what you want the other driver to do. Much safer than dodging around the track.

Adrian, this is the way I was taught at PIARC also, hold your line and point them past. You can move off the line provided you do it early and make your intentions clear. Above all else don't change your mind.

The real problem for me is when I haul an Evo in through the turns but can't pass him on the straights, then you're really stuck!

Yes I get that problem as well. Not so much with evo's. They beat me just about everywhere. I usually get stuck behind something like a soarer or commodore. The only cars I can return the favour to are mx5's haha.
