I have been anti-rice as long as I can remember but the dual exhaust on the MR2 is a must, and this quad tip just looks so delicious . Everything else is stock.
Eventually I'll be getting rid of my fart can installed by the previous owner (possibly in Japan). Thinking of getting a quiet, lightweight, low restriction cheap muffler to replace the current system, but would quad tip be deemed as ricey? The 2012 WRXs come stock with quad tip and they seem like a nice cheap replacement (hatchback style). I know stock mufflers are restrictive but according to autospeed using a muffler designed for high powered car on a low powered car there should be less restriction, and it's quiet :) plus I only need induction noise from the intake :D

I had thought of this before. I think they could look good if they were properly tuned for the car and were the right size.

they're just tips, ie: after the muffler. your not having 4 pipes coming off the turbo or straight from the head. it's purely looks. it won't make a diff if you have twin tips or quad, it's whats before this that matters.

obviously the tips aren't going to be a smaller over all cross sectional flow area than the rest of the zuast system.

Nah not concerned with performance as it is an NA and any improvements are marginal. However I'm after opinions on looks if it's too ****y but after MR2gracer's opinion I'm going for it lol. It's my baby and this might distinguish her from the other twos. It's not like I'm putting a useless CF wing on and this is about as far I go with looks purely (the rest will be by products of aero)

looks fine. wouldn't say it's rice, provided they're not oversized etc.

I think you should be more worried about the sound. NA and aftermarket exhausts often sound very tinny.

They look quite neat I think.  I am not a fan of the mufflers being on show (would prefer black myself so they hide), and dont like how he has cut out part of the rear metal grille (is that what its called?).  Looks like the twin tips would not fit in the standard space between the bumper and the metal grill.

Also, on some cars the space for the tips is round/oval, and twin tips in the one hole look a bit weird, like the previous gen liberty STIs.

One of the guys in perth had twin central tips, looked quite neat, and certainly very unique.

Its just a personal preference in looks.

I am not a big fan of it, makes rear end look to cluttered.

Another example with grille intact.

That does look a bit crowded/awkward.  And they look too low (might be camera angle), or perhaps they need to be to fit the holes.

I can assure you MR2ns, anything will sound better than my current system lol. Need more steath especially coming home late haha.
Yeh that red car looks a bit squished. Tips need to come out straight. I reckon I'd have to cut the rear grill (just enough) like the first pic for the tips to fit without looking cluttered. 0.1 gram weight reduction :D

Also should 200 CPSI cat make it bit quieter? Was thinking about 100 CPSI but might be too loud yet better flow and what are the chances of getting pulled over anyways for emissions...(never been pulled over since ownership 1 year ago :D)
