It's not what your allowed to do, it's what you can get away with.
Ask a cop, he'll probably say no. But if you get pulled over in an MR2 with a 4th(?) gen motor instead of a 2nd gen, do you think the cops would know the difference? just don't put a massive exhaust or anything that doesn't look stock. Should be right.

I drove around for a year on my P's after swapping out for a 3SGTE... Just don't get caught, don't hang out in "those" areas.

Yeah I will try not to anyone know the price for a beams motor plus labour to put it in

One of our club members in sydney put a beams in her 91 model a few years ago. Its still going strong
The biggest issue was the wiring i heard but probably best to hear it from them.
