Sorted out the 'fuel' smell. It was actually leaking/burning a ton of oil. All sealed up now.
The latest of the never ending problems seams to be shift related.
Coming home from RNP on Saturday, I was finding it increasingly difficult to select gears. At one point the only gear I could select was 4th, which made for an interesting take off from traffic lights. Luckily down hill.
It slightly improved once everything cooled down but was still extremely stiff and hard to select gears.
There was no grinding or crunch, so my guess would be shift cables or bushes rather than syncro? I'm really hoping it's an easy external fix, rather than in the trans. The box has always been stiff and hard to select 1st and reverse, so fingers crossed the bushes gave out after a hard drive.
I'll try to pick up some skateboard bearings during the week and jack it up this weekend...
