Not a pleasant update to the thread but recently my neighbour's sister reversed into my car, messed the driver's guard up pretty good. Took almost a week for her to admit it as she "didnt know" but fortunately got it sorted and it all went through insurance

I'm somewhat happy with the repairs - paint work looks great. They re-painted my driver's door as well but that means they had to replace the "MR2" factory sticker.. not very happy with the outcome of that. You can't tell in photos but the colour of the sticker they had custom-made to replace it is completely off, plus the sticker doesn't look "laser cut".. because it's literally pixelated. I think I'll just end up taking both door stickers off as I don't like the inconsistency

That looks like a pretty good repair in the pic, not so bad dude - could you imagine if she'd hit the rear quarter panel? They may have tried to write the car off!

Funny how people 'didn't realise' they whacked your property until they get asked about it, "Oh yeah, I thought I had only run over your cat instead…"

Gorgeous. Keep it well maintained & near stock. Deserves a garage spot!

I'll admit I'm glad it was "only" the front quarter panel, could of been much worse. I kinda wish she hit the front bumper instead as it badly needs a respray due to paint chipping away

I asked her why she didn't leave a note and she told me "I thought I hit the gutter". My response was "An MR2 is a tad bigger than a gutter". Not to mention as you can see in those pictures, the gutters in our street chamfer up to the grass - that wouldn't stop your car from moving? You'd just go up it. What a terrible excuse

Thank you very much, really appreciate the kind words. Unfortunately looks can be deceiving, she needs a bit more love in terms of paint correction and overdue maintenance

Unfortunately due to my current living situation (housed up with the GF's parents) the MR2 doesn't exactly get priority parking! Annoying thing is we live in a cul-de-sac and so is every other street around us so it's local traffic only, no through roads. Never thought I'd get hit here of all places..

Glad you got car sorted - looking great in the photos. What's next to modify?

Honestly I'm not sure. I'm pretty happy with how the car is now, I should probably just focus on a bit more quality of life fixes; might take the stock exhaust off and give it a nice polish, probably change out some aged serviceable items (only fuel filter comes to mind for now?). There's a few rattles and whatnot I'd love to eliminate but I've no idea where I'd start looking haha

Recent news is that I got a delivery from Nengun located in Fukuoka, Japan!

Started with the easiest swap, the shift knob. Went from the custom-billet "TOM's" labelled shift knob that came with the car to a Juran weighted bronze shift knob. Feels very nice in the hand and I love the weight compared to my older light weight shift knob.

It's a shame because I quite liked the look of the original knob however it had issues (ie. it never "caught" on the thread properly and you could occasionally accidentally turn it while driving)

Unfortunately the exhaust will be a week or two off. I tried installing it myself and I simply cannot get the downpipe nuts off to release the flex pipe. Despite trying the ATF and acetone mix (worked a treat for most of it), the nuts just won't budge. Completely seized/rusted to the stud. Plus not having deep enough sockets to actually fit onto the nut doesn't help. Will have to hand this over to someone with the appropriate tools and space to do.

Also included in the order was a magentic Greddy sump plug - I'll be putting this in during my next oil change. My oil usually looks very clean (despite the colour) so I'm very curious to see if it picks up any sediment from the oil. You may also notice a Greddy cap to the left of the plug in the first pic. Unfortunately because I'm a dumb-dumb, I ordered the wrong cap and it doesn't fit. It's moreso for dressing up the engine bay but I think it's smart to change out the 20+ year old OEM cap while I'm at it

Ooo, love when new parts arrive in the mail. That shift knob looks great. Def interested to hear the exhaust once you get it all fitted up.

Very good feeling indeed. Have some more parts on order so fingers crossed that's not too far away either!

Will definitely show you the exhaust once on. In case it wasn't super obvious, I've gone with the Fujitsubo Legalis R. I feel that it's going to be a very subtle change -  I really wanted to keep the OEM look and noise levels while gaining a bit of performance. From what I've heard the Legalis R should tick all the boxes!
