So some of you will remember this car via its previous owner whom I purchased the car from.
 
its a 1990 turbo Hardtop. Engine done a main bearing approx 2,000kms into my ownership despite oil looking good and no noises when i purchased. (typical of my luck I guess). so it now has a complete rebuilt engine as follows:
 
JE Forged Pistons
Eagle H Beam Conrods
near new replacement crank (crack tested, linished)
Bottom end balanced inc flywheel
 
New pink stuff tough clutch
 
then during my engine rebuild process the bloody wheels were stolen from it while it was on a hoist at my mechanics yard. so i lost the SSR's and replaced them with Enkei RPF1's in black thanks to my mechanic (DDB auto in Cardiff).
 
it has since copped EBC Green stuff brake pads and slotted rotors, the teins have been adjusted all-round, new Berk dump pipe, Boost returned to stock for now (although it rarely hits 8psi for some reason) as engine only has 3500kms on it so far. I'll Probably dump the oil this week and throw a new filter on and maybe wind the boost up a few pound and see how she runs with it.
 
I still haven't done too much to it as yet as I don't want to ruin the new engine. I have had excellent patience thus far so i think running her in properly is the way to go. If i keep it much longer i'll be looking at getting a new Programmable ECU preferably plug and play type unit so any advice is welcome there.
 
Neext step is to get rid of the jasma exhaust and run an exit pipe direct from the rear pipe to the rear left hand side of the car but I will see how it sounds before this is a permanent move...

I may be slightly biased Nik_Lee but I think you have exceptional taste judging from your 2... haha.
 
Looks in great condition, I have work to do to mine to be happy with it yet.

Looking good man! Awesome to see another hardtop on the road, especially in Newy! I'm excited to check this thing out on Monday if you can make it.

Have been busy of late with my preparations for an up coming road trip. Had heaps of trouble shooting to do. 

Put it on the dyno after the GCG turbo was bolted on and it sucked. only reeled off 115rwkw and less than 200nm. 

Took it home, replaced all Vac lines, cleaned ignition contacts, base timing checked. then blocked the boost sensor vac line to allow it to go over 12lb, which so far I'm only sitting around 13lb and the AFR's are sweet so I'm happy to leave it at that.
 
Made 153rwkw and 365nm with the above work. (not exactly ground breaking but the engine is running healthy)

Then the other night I decided to check my filter, upon closer inspection I found that my airbox was had a dodgey modification by the previous owner where they have cut a perfectly 'oval' hole into the side and had shoved some ducting into the hole. It was pretty rough so it would have been sucking air from everywhere. 

Here's what I found:


 

 
So, being in Mount Isa I had little choice but to kind of dodge up the dodgey intake. So I cleaned it up a bit, brought some PVC 900mm bends from Bunnings and some termite capping to use for covering up the oval hole and mounting my new intake pipe to. 

Turned out okay for a dodgey repair, but once I'm back from my trip I'll either replace the airbox or look at a new intake to better capture the cold air. 

Here is the front of the box. Plate was trial fitted here but I ended up adding sikaflex to the underside when i finally put it together:


Installed it once it was dry and hooked the ducting up this time cable tying it onto the PVC pipe:

New K&N Panel filter. good for at least 0.00073rwkw gains:



Then today I cleaned the AFM, drained the coolant, flushed it twice with deionised water and then replaced with Toyota red going back through the bleeding process. 


Decided to give it another service with some Synpower oil and filter as it will be due in about 2,000kms anyways and I'm about to depart for a 7,000kms trip.

Adjusted the suspension in the rear to give slightly more clearance and it appears to feel better on the road. might get this thing corner balanced when I get the chance. But, first I need to replace the rack as there is a bit of play in it. I guess while I'm going might as well put some new bushes in the front end as well. 

Took it for a spin this arvo and came home smiling like a fat kid in a candy shop. pretty stoked with it. really looking forward to this road trip. seeing a lot of country and hitting a lot of my favorite roads.

Wow, just wow. And what did they have to say for themselves? CCTV happened to be out of order that time as well I guess?
 
Don't recognise the car, who used to own it?

A member on the forum 'Shayno' from central coast NSW.

DDB didn't have cameras at that stage. But he was pretty good about it as he is a wheel and tyre outlet as well. So he said that he was happy to get me anything I wanted to replace regardless of cost.

I was tempted to go crazy but I had already been thinking about changing the rims to Enkei RPF1's so I just stuck with them.

When I picked it up he had it detailed and a couple of stone chips touched up. I was pretty happy with it, especially as I was getting close to needing new tyres haha.
