Hi.
Has anyone had their glass targa tops painted?
How was it done and how is the paint lasting?
Other option is vinyl but I'm not sure how close they will be able to match '93 blue metallic.

I see this product claims to work on glass:
Bulldog® Adhesion Promoter  is designed to promote paint adhesion to all automotive surfaces, even problem plastics. It works equally well on all flexible or rigid plastics, fiberglass, aluminium, glass, chrome, vinyl, galvanized metal, and painted surfaces. Bulldog acts as a tie coat by allowing several different surfaces to be painted at the same time to assure a smooth, flawless, durable finish every time. If added to the paint, it will perform as a flex agent, promoting more flexibility on plastics.

One feels the need to ask. Why would you want to paint them?

I have a spare set of tops I've toyed with painting.  There is some info on the oc re painting them, but from memory they weren't doing anything special, may be worth a search.

To give the car cleaner lines, to make it look like a hardtop.

That actually looks alright have you thought about sourcing fibreglass or carbon fibre t tops and painting them instead?

Good idea, I have considered that and still might go that option.
Just need to source some good quality ones.

What about using vinyl wrap?  Much cheaper solution and there are so many colours available now, there's probably a really good chance you could find an almost perfect match.

EDIT: Duh!  Clearly I didn't read the first post properly since you mention the possibility of using wrap!

Agreed, the vinyl wrap option is probably best.
FG/CF targa tops require quite a bit of work.

You will also need a spare set of targas for the hardware to mount the cf/fg. I thought that you can get vinyl wrap printed in any colour. We have a customer that designed her own wrap for a Van its all pixelated once the image was enlarged to fit her car & looks like ****
