before i started modding my 2, some 9 years ago, it was my daily from 80,000kms to 190,000kms without missing a beat.

Mine got rebuilt recently and ive been having timing belt issues that have rendered my car completely useless. I need to get it on the hoist and pull it all off to see what REALLY caused it.

I've owned mine for about 7 years, and it now has nearly 240k kms on the original stock 3SGE motor.
Used mainly as a daily driver, but on occasions does get driven hard.
 
As for "Toyota reliability," apart from needing to get the aircond fixed, it has never missed a beat in the time I have owned it.
 
However I am very particular with maintainence. Anything showing the slightest sign of wear gets fixed straight away, and also a few things that aren't, just in case.
 
 
 
 
 

I bought mine when it had like 276000kms I did a further 10000kms on it and then it died. When the motor was pulled apart there was a lot of corrosion. I guess it all depends on how it was treated/looked after. Mine was not looked after TOO well. I have been though and I hope now it will be like new again.

Wow my story is about the same but, I had mine as my DD for about nine years (88,000 to 151,151) then 2 years ago modded the crap out of it n now its a garage gnome.

I had mine for a year,then motor said bye bye, built a new one, modified it, still moding lol, was daily, got a second car, the aw11 became a club cruise car, year after the second car i bought, motors gone seeya later, so now the mr2 is back on daly duties till the other cars rebuilt!! New motors n got about 15k on it, still going stong!! Then il sell my secnd car to get another aw11

The alarm now works constantly, and so does the horn. And the central locking flicks on and off when I turn the blinker on.
 
So technically everything works, but they don't stop working when I want them to

Mine did work before i started to remove all working parts, i have to wait while I work so i can make the car work better

Mine has been off the road for six months now. But that's because I took on a engine swap and had to move interstate halfway through.
 
For the last month however I've been doing battle with some undiagnosable flywheel/bearing noise.
