I was given a copy of Terry Heick's "Toyota MR2 Performance"
(see here) recently when I bought mine, it lays out some ideas for "stage 1, 2 and 3" that seem well thought out, covering engine, suspension, brakes etc. Worth a read if you can get a copy.
