slower response? isn't it using the same turbine housing?
so with the newer compressor fins design, wouldn't it be more responsive?
Looking at the compressor map, as well as other dyno comparisons so far, it appears GTX series spools faster and loves boost, so higher hp too.

I'm at the "Bolt on" Stage and still very happy with my current setup

The jury is still out on that one (I've yet to see definitive results although some tuners I've spoken to say it will respond better). I pretty much set the expectation low & it very well may exceed my comment. But at the very least, I'd expect close to GT3076 power with similar spool to a GT3071

Bolt on stage of a Gen3 is more fun than a bolt on Gen2 though. I couldn't live with a CT26, the fact it dies after 6000rpm is an instant annoyance in my books.

gtx all have anti surge housings which as i understand will contribute slightly to lag

gtx have higher efficiency compared to the gt in the higher boost range, however your limited by whatever fuel your running anyway, they'd go well with E85, but with 98oct as most tend to run max 20psi you can't mak full use of the potential.

this is as i understand it.

You guys are going fairly deep in all this aren't you. :) I am on the Gold Coast, and am still doing my research as to the workshop(s) that specialize in MR2 Turbos here in QLD. I guess If i was in Syd, I'd be in luck fairly quick.
Currently I am at the bolt-on stage, I would say as I recently got a side-mount intercooler installed and the 3"inch exhaust.

Cheers for the info Ace,

You are right, the cars running GTX that I've seen are all on E85..

What are the limits of the stock intake manifold? Im aware of the uneven distribution, was looking at switching to a sidefeed 3SGE manifold when doing my new cooler piping, as its really cheap, bolt on and meant to flow evenly. Is it worth doing or should I go straight to aftermarket?
