TRD2000
hmmm it makes me wonder if full comp is worth it... if they paid me out and i had to buy my parts/car back i probably wouldn't end up with anything left from my payout.....
Usually they allow you to buy the wreck back for about $1000-$1500, depending on car & insurance of couse - when my sw20 turbo was written off I had the option of buying it back for a grand or 1500 I think - and since I'm now insured with a company that allows salvage rights, It might be even less than that now (I'd have to check). The value of full comprehensive is also more useful when it comes to hitting other cars - if you're in the wrong, and you DON'T have full comprehensive, any damage to the OTHER car comes out of your own pocket - this is what many people don't realise, and leads to a lot of financial heartbreak down the road...
Unfortunately with the MR2 the front end being all crumple zone means everything just kinda folds in - a big empty space up front means even small impacts cause floorpan or structural damage - judging from the damage, if you'd hit something wider that distributed the impact across the front of the car you might have got away with it, or even hit something with a bit of give - but as said above, the financial aspect of repairing this car probably makes it worth moving on, particularly since it'll require some professional work done to get it looking (and feeling) right. even though it may drive ok at low speed, the last thing you want is to spend $$$ to get it sort-of-fixed up, get out on the road, and find out something isn't right at 100km/h on the motorway...
I'd say (as said by others above) either a reshell or part out to try and recoup costs would be the way to go here sadly, maybe put the money towards some better tyres for your next car ;)
