^I changed mine to 'legit' Raybrigs a while back...best thing I ever did for night time hills blasts (inc Raybrig globes :)). Even on low beam it lights up the road a decent distance ahead and wide too. I've no need for HID really. Makes the output from the fog lights look like candles.

Remember the old sealed beams come in 100/55 and 150/55 where as semi sealed (unless full glass) are limited to 60/55. The wiring may need an upgrade for 150 but 100 should be fine on stock wiring. Makes for awesome bright high beam.

My old original sealed beams were 55/60W and had deteriorated so much the lights were shiiit.

When updating, no need for higher power globes, they can fry your dipper switch contacts anyway, even with heavier wiring unless you also fit dedicated H/lamp relays.

Forget the Ebay 'cheapies', and update to high quality quartz (expensive) semi-sealed lens/reflectors with quality (expensive ) halogen globes to dramatically improve the brightness as well as having the modern sharp beam cutoff rising up on the left on dip.
This can be achieved with globes of the same power rating (50/65W) that means no mod is needed to the wiring.

When I updated mine in this way I found that high beams were so bright that I couldn't  tell whether my OEM driving lights were switched on or not.
The total cost of the conversion was about $200 and was the best money I ever spent on the car.

I have a genuine Koito set of H4 headlights if anyone is interested in upgrading their 'sealed beam'. In great condition and only took them out as I upgraded to Raybrigs.

Interesting I already have Koito headlamps so maybe previous owner changed it as it is a 90's model. Sealed or semis I wouldn't have a clue but they are very easy to change. Finally got her running properly and back from workshop, which during the time I changed the el cheapo fleabay try-hard "HID" colour H4s to Osram Nightbreakers so hoping that will be a big improvement along with better angling. If that's not enough I'll consider those Raybrigs...
