Funny thing is, the faster/more powerful my MR2 became, the more sensible/slow I drive. Full points here (knocks on wood). Certainly DO NOT recommend running away. That was an all round stupid night. Happened in the moment. My mate did it back in the day in his single cam Excel (into a dead end road). I don't think he'll ever live it down.......ROFL just thinking about it.

Totally agree with regards to not running away.  I made the mistake of not stopping when on my '94 CBR250RR 3 years ago (young and silly, still on my P's) and took off down a estate rd that was surrounded by large properties.

Got a fair distance ahead but ended up dropping my bike after going through a T- intersection and hitting a patch of sand; broke a few things on the handlebars, ripped off my right fairing and scratched up brand new Yoshi pipe.

Dragged it into the nearest driveway and sat there in the dark for 4 hours with a sprained wrist and gravel rash while it was raining - pretty stupid looking back now.

Before I crashed it - super clean bike.

With the MR2, haven't had any dramas - been pulled over for speeding (16kph over) and the cop just told me to slow down after I inferred my speedo was wrong due to having bigger rims lol.  Cop: "it looks like you spend a lot of time and money on your car, don't waste it by getting fines."  Me "yes officer" lol.

Another time a female cop (going through a RBT) said it looked like the Batmobile.

Though I'd jump in on this.  In the two and a half years driving the car, NEVER been pulled over in the MR2, even when I had the stupidly loud exhaust on it.  (going through booze busses is a different story).  I'm pretty sedate on the roads though....

Been pulled over 4 times so far, every time because the copper checks the rego on the car and sees no Australian drivers licence against it, lol.  (Still on my NZ licence!)

Don't get hassled for anything else.  One cop had a look around the car on a Friday night, nothing came of it, all the others commented on how straight it is :)

Never been pulled over specifically because of the car or how I was driving, but then again, it's incredibly rare to see a cop on the road in Perth these days, at least in my experience.

It's been quite a while since I've driven my 2 on the road but it was my daily driver for about 6 years in the early 2000's. I don't remember being stopped/targeted unless I was doing something wrong. In fact the only time I can remember being stopped was when I was 'testing' the turbo. After having done 200+ (too bad the speedo only goes to 180, and I guess the speed limiter had been removed) on a long straight stretch on Princes HWY Gippsland an oncoming copper got me at about 130 while slowing down. Just a fine and a stern word, tho he walked around the car a few times and I got the impression he didn't know what kind of car it was!
I got more police attention in my old HJ Kingswood!

In my white NA Auto I have been pulled up for random license checks (and then a breath test) 5 times in just over a year.

Further to that, I was pulled over twice for a 'random' drug test, both times the car was searched quite extensively. One of those two times I somehow failed, and convinced them to do again and subsequently passed.

For driving related offenses I have actually only been pulled over once in this car (estimated 138km/h). Thankfully the police offer was actually understanding and my license is (now) quite clean so I was let of with a very stern warning.

In my CRX I have been pulled over 4 times. 3 of those times I was issued with a defect notice. Part of the reason I haven't used the car in almost 13 months.

I have also noticed for some reason in my GT, I get people pulling next to me and telling me to slow down (usually in a school zone/pedestrian crossing) even though I am  doing the speed limit. Assuming they see a sporty car and assume its speeding....

Wow, you've been lucky.......saw 4 motorbike cops within one hour around Belmont / Burswood on NYE day!!!

I've never been pulled over either for the car, it is still all factory, so it doesn't draw attention to itself :-)

Sounds like Adelaide, seems they'd rather put speed cameras everywhere instead of 'real' policing with LIDAR like they used to...
