I did an illegal right turn into a cross street near my old house. All the residents used to do it as it is was a short cut in and around the neighborhood. I had done it most days for many years but a month before moving out I got a shock to find a cop on my tail just after breaking the law for the 5 millionth time. For some reason He started reading me my rights which scared the crap out of me! Needless to say I never did it again. I'm sure he got many law breakers that day. Thing is though, I had only taken delivery of my aw11 and the rego was still in the previous owners name. I still don't know why they didn't question why the address linked to the vehicle was different to the one on my licence.

My case:
Skyline R33 basic mods= 9 times in 4 months, got rid of it for that reason. (last one i lost it at a cop because i was getting hassled and being targeted, mind you i have a near perfect driving record)

..had a brake with sports cars and drove around a honda euro..

S15 Midnight purple colour didnt help, 4 times in 2 months, got rid of it for the same reason. (when i told the officer i will get rid of it before he send me the EPA, his reply "i hear that every day". Sold it, two days later the letter arrived)

..back to honda euro...

Missed sports cars, so as second car i bought a mr2. So far so good, but its my second car which ill keep no matter what so even if i get hassled once again ill leave it in the garage. Only reason why i dont think they dont pick on these cars in my opinion is A they are rare and B they look a bit girly, small etc so they maybe dont see it as a "HOON" car.

I think I've been 'randomly' stopped twice in 7 years. In saying that I don't hang out at 'bust' locations.
Although, when I got stopped for my one and only speeding ticket (in this car) it was almost worth it
when he stood at the front of the car and told me to open the bonnet.

Haha That is too funny, ill probably get in trouble when i start laughing when this happens to me... And its only a matter of time :)
MR2QIK

I've only been randomly pulled over once while I was on my P's. The cop had an MR2 & wanted to take a look as he was doing an engine conversion

Only other times were for defects (thrice I think). Unlucky those times, spotted by cops that were running low on their defect quota.

Been blocked off though. Mainly cos I was doing well over 200 (while street racing) & didn't stop. Long story but I absolutely deserved it. I actually have respect for police, he set me straight & I've been 100 x more mature ever since.

Actually...now I think of it there were a few more, but from memory I was young & dumb thinking a cop wouldn't chase me for valving him in the face.

200? Gee. Well the point of enforcing the law is to hopefully teach us a lesson when being silly on the road and looks like the message got through to you. Problem is, some people never learn. I dont think id have the balls to do what you did tho hehe (not stop)

I would like to hear that story Mr2qik. It sounds interesting. If its a JDM car, did you have a system to remove the speed limiter?

Funny thing is, the faster/more powerful my MR2 became, the more sensible/slow I drive. Full points here (knocks on wood). Certainly DO NOT recommend running away. That was an all round stupid night. Happened in the moment. My mate did it back in the day in his single cam Excel (into a dead end road). I don't think he'll ever live it down.......ROFL just thinking about it.

Been pulled over twice in the 5,000km I've driven my Adub :)

Completely stock exterior, lowered (TRD springs), stock teardrops, stock exhaust, full licence, etc. Windows are tinted though.

Basically put it down to bad luck - both times I had an unmarked car behind me without realising, once I went around a corner "a bit too quick" and chirped the tyres, the other time I accelerated through a roundabout at a t intersection without slowing down much. Both times a warning was given, to drive a bit more carefully :) If I was in my Mazda 2 I may/may not have been pulled over - I don't think I was being targeted - but if I was in the Mazda I wouldn't have been going round corners that quick anyway ;)

I think the MR2 is unique enough that It doesn't have the cop-magnet effect that a silvia, supra, skyline, etc has (as long as it's not bright pink with a cannon exhaust and 18 inch chrome rims). It seems to cost more to get big power out of an mr2 as well, and so has less of a hoon reputation.

I had bad luck with the fuzz, I had one canary and a lot of "please open the bonnet", at least old cops don't know what they are looking at.

I sprayed my s'dub yellow, got a CF bonnet and the motoria exhaust also the greddy typers bov,

Stood out to much so now I am painting it black and installed stock bov and HKS silent exhaust.

Has anyone every opened the frunk when a cop told you to open the bonnet??
