Thanks for the feedback and point of view on the classes and what people feel it should be.
Admin, the EVO was not a standard road car which is what Street Class was this year. It was modified beyond standard so it was placed in Modified Street. Two piece rotors are not stock.
I have looked at the supersprint reg's but there are too many classes which doesn't work. Good idea, but will not work for us. These reg's are closer to WTAC but structured to suit the demographic of the MR2 owner. Bascially, there are no extreme MR2 circuit cars. Most are modified to a similar degree so these all end up in the same class. Most have suspension mods with some minor engine upgrades, sound upgrades and decent tyres. These fit into Street Class. Cars which are the more highly modded street cars are the same, except they have power upgrades with a mild improvement in weight reduction and the odd car has increased track and a brake upgrade. Circuit cars are the same with more weight reduction and a improved safety and a cage. A point being, the roll cage is not just safety, the cage is a performance enhancement if done correctly. So a street car with a cage has an advantage. It does cost 30kg of weight, but you do gain with a more comprehensive chassis.
Harnesses are also a advantage and a excellent safety addition. I would be happy if everyone had one fitted but that will not happen. It's just what I would 'like' to see.
As far as not having classes and competition, that cannot happen. It's a major part of the event, it stimulates conversation, enthusiasm to improve your driving and car to try and 'top' your fellow driver, creates great memories and stories, makes you drive harder and better. You can drive in the event, enjoy the tracks, not bother about where you finish, but if your keen on the stimulation of competition you can go for it.
I'm going to talk with Wakefield Park about a cruise session for people who want to drive to the track, meet and greet, then do a few laps with their partner or friend. So, not a competitive or speed orientated drive, just cruising at 40-60km/h on the twisty bits, then up to 100km/h on the straights. It's just to allow people to have a drive of the track without the pressure of watching their mirrors or exceeding their comfort zone, allow the show cars to have some low pressure laps, allow your girlfriend, mum, dad, grandparent, whatever to drive the track with non risk of incident. What do you think?
