Weight reduction time. Well not intentional :)

Thought it was time to upgrade my 2011 era Pioneer CD/USB head unit to current 2014 model with Bluetooth audio, hands free calling, USB, Android support, no CD slot etc.
My wife arrived home with this today which was lovely. MVH-X565BT $220 @ JB Hifi

New compared to the old unit with CD slot. New one is half the depth and weighs very little.

Got out the scales

So saved almost 1Kg by improving the audio system haha.

How do you play CD's now?

I don't think I've used a cd in a car for 5+ years :)
I primarily use fm radio, Pandora, YouTube and media on the phone or USB stick.

In a daily things like bluetooth and USB are a must. In the MR2 though.. If I need to make or receive a call, I'll either pull over or they can wait until I'm not driving. Nothing should get between you and enjoying driving it :)

I haven't actually made a test phone call whilst driving yet to see if the person on the other end can actually hear me over the road noise and rattles haha

I decided against handsfree bluetooth, as there's no way I could have a meaningful conversation whilst driving the 2 given the engine noise

LOL, yes!
I've had my double-din head unit for about 3 years now, with bluetooth connectivity, and the little microphone neatly attached to the sun visor, but I've never used it once.
Having said that, I always have my phone's bluetooth turned off to reduce battery usage. If I ever turned it on while driving, then got a phone call, I'd be interested to see how much of a meaningful conversation I could have.

The screamer pipe would make it difficult no doubt :)

But to some thats the sort of communication they want in their ears

Q - "Hey man, how you going?"
A - "350kw……"

Found a few pics of my car on the Toyota Australia facebook page. These were taken at the 30th meet.
