So neither key works in the drivers door lock? Sounds like it has been changed out at some stage.

I'd look at the passenger door lock first.

Neither key works properly in the ignition?

Once you know what to it’s not hard but just took time till I found out how to do it.

Hopefully some one can help identify the codes

The Americans say that the code usually starts with P and has 4 numbers. Is the letter correct?

Maybe ask Toyota if the code is correct?

Yes a copy of a worn key was wishful thinking, at least a cheap option.

As for dash lights, funny you should mention. last night my son compared 2 sets of LEDs from SuperbrightLEDs in the US into the 4 main lights that illuminate speedo and tacho. The tests took a minute or 2 each and both types were pretty good but we preferred 194-W-6V for no hotspotting, nor too bright, nice. Cheap and arrived in under 2 weeks.
Can recommend highly if you have the cluster out.

im on SuperbrightLED web now and i feel like changing few lights to LED. like stop light, parking, tail lights i was wondering would the LED light work for such an old car.
also the 194 cluster light you got did they fit direct to bracket.

I would replace the whole barrel and switch. It is only a minor inconvenience to have a different key. I have removed a barrel before. I think that I just drilled out the bolts? The barrel was undamaged, and I sold it to a forum member with (I assume) the same issue that you are experiencing.

i was thinking the same by just drill out the bolts.
last night i spend some time and play with the barrel and by accident i found when the key is jammed and moving the steering column up and down the key works fine. so im thinking it may be something with steering lock or lock release. does this mean its not the barrel.
