Hi,
I got mine done just after Christmas at Altapac in Newcastle.  Cost $185.00 Oops, sorry typo $285.00.  Got SolarGard HP30 supreme.  They told me it's a bit darker than what is "legal" now because of the age of the car.  Mine is a 1990.  Rules changed after that,  I think they said in about 1994.
It looks great.  Makes a big difference when parked outside all day in the heat.

Ah so that's you I've seen around Newcastle... Yours is the first blue MR2 I've seen on the road besides my own.

I think my tinting cost around the $200 mark, for everything including t-tops.

I know I saw another blue one coming into Charlestown Square as I was leaving only about a week after I got mine & then I've seen you parked at Charlestown square a few times.

Just had the original 19 y.o. tinting removed and replaced with Tint-a-car "Octane" (darkest legal) for $395..... But that included removal of old, so $250 - 300 would be a reasonable cost.

Cheers, M

I had my Focus done for $200 from a local mob, and they did a really good job. You'll pay more for a metallic film than a dye based film, though these days most of the dyes come with a lifetime guarantee against fading so its not a bad option.
I got 20% all round, which looks great and works well to keep the heat out. Honestly if I was doing the MR2 I'd get a 'legal' tint, as its a much bigger target for the cops to defect. If they come up empty they can always write you up for illegal tint, and its a major pain to remove.

ok so the price is about right then.
this rockstar tint they said is
legal,
http://www.tintprofessor.com.au/images/downloads/TntPro_rockstar.pdf
so if i get it ill keep the paperwork with me so the cops cant do ****, and if they do ill take the car back and ask them to replace it for free.
well thats the plan anyway lol.

so tinting the targa tops can be done as well, heard lots of conflicting reports about that.
i probably wont do it as my targa cover are black so they look alright.
cheers
