Just bear in mind pushign the car that far on a std old engine is askign for trouble, just be prepared for engine failure if things are not up to scratch.
i learnt the hard way.
cheers

Shamus: note that just_ace was talking in horsepower, not kilowatts, so don't get too excited about the '300' that he mentioned

Haha, true. Good point Rob! I misread that entirely :(
Ok, so even though 250 is a good figure, chances are that i won't hit it with the mild mods i'm looking at.
Would it just be easier to buy a ct20b to hold me until i decide on what i want to do (although something is telling me not to do it) ? Dylan is selling one for $800 or something like that. Or should i buy an equivilent turbo that is brand new?

buy things that you can use now and when you eventually rebuild the engine.

is there something wrong with your turbo currently? i think dylan has the ct20b for only $500

that'll prob give you the biggest bang for buck in the short term, fit that, also a walbro (or other 255lph+) fuel pump and maybe a haltech sprint ECU.

or just save up for a rebuilt engine with forged pistons and CAMs etc

Just_ace:  good call.  There is nothing wrong with the ct26 i have now but it's just annoying not being able to hold it all the way through, plus it would be nice to like the boost up a bit as well.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Now that my car is fixed and running smoothly again...

Ahh, and you want that to change?

Have a little bit of fun with it while its running happily! I picked up mine from the suspension shop last week, put it under some load and a cooling hose decided to give the block a nice fine spray of coolant

I'd seriously consider the CT20B. Having everything bolt up and running fine on the standard gear will save you a small fortune, which you can spend on other supporting mods. I plan to upgrade everything bit by bit, to keep the car running, until the turbo becomes the limiting factor. Then I can swap to something bigger and not have to worry about upgrading the fuel system, getting the ECU sorted, etc.
