How many people on this forum have done this conversion. I'll be taking it on in the next 2 months. Has anyone in NSW done it yet? Only reason I ask is because I spoke to the engineer that I use and he told me that the conversion skirts a few grey areas in for engineering in NSW.
Did he give you any details of what the grey areas are? There have been plenty of 3.0 litre V6 conversions engineered and registered in NSW. No 2GRs to my knowledge at this stage. One registered in Queensland and one registered in Victoria.
JDM Gen 3 rated at 180kw standard, 2GR is 200kw and no real weight penalty using the 2GR. All alloy engine I believe is lighter. So power rating shouldn't be a problem. Either should brakes if you have late model turbo brakes (at a minimum)
Queensland and Vic do appear not to be as tough as NSW. NSW will most likely require an emissions test (more experienced heads here may know more). NSW got even tougher towards the end of 2011 but I don't think there is anything to stop a well engineered 2GR being registered in NSW if you are prepared to spend the money
I looked at Justin's 3.0 litre supercharged V6 and didn't like my chances of getting it registered in NSW without too many hassles and a bill of $2000 plus as NSW would not accept a QLD or VIC engineereing mod certificate. State egos getting in the way again.
