I'd just get a new E153 from Dylan and bolt that in. It'll be cheaper than having the transaxle rebuilt.

But even then if you're paying someone else to do it, it'll still cost quite a bit.

If you're gearbox is seized up and you need to move the car, easiest way would be to pop out the driveshafts. You'd have to drain the oil, but it should be relatively quick to do, and then you can roll it around without issue.

Im just waiting to hear back from the mechanics today i spoke to a guy that works there and he told me it sounds like the gear box or diff has broken and he also told me that they are connected together on the mr2's so if i get a new gearbox i will have to get a diff also or vise versa .He also told me im looking to spend 3000 + for the job he hasn't had a full look at it yet but he will be putting the car on the hoist later today and give it a full look over ..ill update whats wrong with the car when the mechanic calls me and lets me know the price and whats wrong with the car ... sucks that i just bought the car of a mate for 6500 cash with a few dents on the side that why i got it cheeper ,but then to be up for 3000+ would sucks big time

Have you got your a car with a mechanic who is familiar with MR2s?
If the gearbox or something inside it is stuffed just buy a used one and install that.

3k may be the quote for a remove, rebuild and refit which isn't bad at all.

i recommend getting his beams LSD gearbox.

straight bolt in, keeps the same short ratios you need for an NA motor, and it has an LSD so you shouldn't have broken gearbox issues again.

In reply to just ace i had a look and its pick up only, i did msg him tho.just wondering do you think maybe getting an engine would be better ? i called toyota they wanted 7000 for a new gear box and diff lol thats silly .Im still waiting for my mechanic to call me back so im looking at diffs/gearbox's online tho i have come across an 3sgte engine for 2000 and was thinking if i were to spend the money wouldnt upgradeing the engine be better and around the same price as getting my car fixed ,what do you guys think?

In regards to pick up only for that gearbox, you can just organise a courier yourself and they will collect it.
As for a 3sgte, the conversion is not cheap even if you do the work yourself. You need a lot more parts to go with just the engine. Using a half cut would be much easier.
