Even if I unplugged it and nothing happens what would that exactly show me, that it does nothing or that it isn't working at all and makes no difference if I use it or not?
It's a  1991 Gen2 GT Import.
Cheers

What did you expect to happen?
with it there or not you wont notice anything drastic, just when it IS there the ECU will trim fuel over time i.e. fuel being added or taken away.
I replaced mine and it didn't make any noticeable difference, but that could just be the way I drive. eg. mostly in traffic or on boost.
However, I 'adjusted' my AFM recently and it made a very noticeable difference in driveability and economy (less rich), but I wouldn't recommend it unless you know what you're doing..

Yeah just thought it had a more drastic effect on the fuel economy.
My car is running so rich that the new exhaust inside was covered in soot  within a wheel ( the tips that is).
Hmm wondering if it's the AFM then :S
Seriously getting ludicrously bad fuel economy even when driving as economical as possible the whole tank. ;/

as said, most liekly the AFM is borked (if it just started happening etc without someone fiddling with it)

or the CSI could for some reason be staying on/leaking.

or possibly your inj's themselves.

do you have a fuel smeel in the engine bay at all?
