Hey all,

While my car has been off the road (again) I have been collecting bits and pieces for the next stage.  I've been looking around the forums on the interwebs and there seems to be a rise in the number of people who now wrap their cars - especially in either matt black or carbon fibre.
Having a look at here in Sydney, it cost roughly $2500 depending on size of the car and the wraps last for 5 years.

What are your thoughts of full wrapping vs painting your car?

Wrapping select pieces isn't a bad idea if you're doing it yourself (eg bonnet or roof etc). Wouldn't bother wrapping a whole car if it's going to cost $2500. You can get a relatively decent respray for that price. Jaemus had his done for a bit over a thousand.

Defiantly paint over wrap for that price. Thats just my opinion.

from what I have been told the body work needs to be spot on before you wrap, any bumps or ripples are perfectly shown through the wrap.

It's not a bad look but you have to remove it before five years is up or it never comes off, so paint may be better in the long run.

Yes the body work still needs to be spot on to look good. Just as good as if it was to be painted.
The wrap is actually designed to go over a factory paint finish, But I decided to give it a go over undercoat. If you expect it to last I would only go over paint.

This cost me under $800 to do this and still have enough wrap to do the car 2 more times

Jay, do you know where he went to get it done and if it was a full respray?

I've tried looking for his thread but can't find anything

Where abouts you located? Different colour, or just a freshen up? I've run into a few others that are well priced in case you get stuck. Let me know & I'll get their details.

Cheers for the email addy

Looking at a different colour completely.  Living in Mosman.

I'll need to get some parts sanded back smooth (like the wing) and new parts installed.  Just waiting for a few more parts to arrive to complete everything
