Gatesys SW20
Ok so I just had my exhaust re done
But I see lots of mr2s with those eBay style ones with the cat straight pipe and splits off into two tips like cannon style.. If anyone knows what I'm talking about? My exhaust follows the stock kind of set up with all the bends etc except has a hi flo cat and is mandrel bent and createote power

Just wondering if the first mentioned exhaust would create more power being more straight?

Or what would someone recommend for a custom exhaust for an Na
Very happy with mine but it was cheap and just to replace the old one before rego was rusting out.

Was thinking stainless system
Quad tips keeping my hi flo metal cat
Just asking what kind of system same kind of bends as stock or go more straight? Any ideas
Sorry I'm confusing

Ahaha

Doesnt matter much for an N/A but if you want the best flow a single outlet is the best (althought on an N/A that will be reaalyy loud). in saying that oversizing the N/A exhaust will only give you less power, so be carefull how big you go, i would stick with a 2 or 2.25 inch maximum in mandrel bends
and dont bother upgrading the exhaust headers for the N/A as the stock one is beautifully built.

The dual canon style is mostly the turbo exhausts where bigger is usually the best (3 inch is a common size) i personally prefer the dual tips cause it makes the rear end look better but each to their own.
cheers

Yeah thanks for that man,
But interns of losing power from what I r read that's false just changes your torque point mines a 2.5 inch and it gained quite a bit of power compared to the 2 inch press bent system

But no I agree the dual tips look great :)

I really like the exhaust in it ATM
It is loud but not really drony at highway

I'd love to put quad tips on there :p

But the only headers I'd do is the super exs there a better flowing header

Even if a single tip provides (a tiny bit) more power, I think it is far more important to retain the unique twin-tips of the SW20

Unlike turbos, it doesn't much matter what exhaust you put on an NA, it's not going to give you much power gain anyway unless it's matched to other mods like intake and cams.

Twin tips look great, but a single tip muffler may be lighter and that could be worthwhile on an NA. (handling)
IMO quad tips on an MR2 = Fail

Cat back exhaust on an N/A does SFA...mainly provides noise/drone
and I think the 3SGE has decent 'headers' anyway

Yes, they are fairly good, but not that good they can't be improved on.
The pic shows stock left, and Fujitsubo Super Ex right.

Unlike the stock headers, the Fuji's have larger equal length pipes, the bends are mandrel bent and the welds are much smoother inside, especially at the bottom collector. They also stand out further from the head giving a lot more room underneath to reach that PITA oil filter.
But probably not a fair comparison, to compare an expensive custom hand made item to a factory produced one.

Sorry red but QUAD TIPS FTW!!! haha

Hmm I think this is like the 2nd time I posted this car lol. The quad tips are very proportionate on this car so I approve!
