hi guys, before anyone starts flaming at me ive used the "search bar"

im from sydney south west area and im looking into buying an mr2 and putting a 1mz-fe and keeping it N/A.
ive done alot of searches on the net over the past week or so, but i cant find a guide or a walk through of the swap or a parts list.
i havent decided on what gearbox is going in yet, but im leaning towards an s54 or if i can find a cheap turbo mr2 ill just use the e153 from it.

also should i just buy a carmy half cut with the looming? would that make my life easier?

I've done this swap. I stuck with the S54, only because I'd already forked out for an S54 with an LSD. I used an aftermarket ECU to get around the hassle of splicing into the Camry loom/immobiliser.

He used an Adaptronic Select ECU, which I helped him wire-up.

i've just advertised a full camry conversion package.
The S54 box is the simplest/cheapest, but it was never desingned to handle the V6 power and I've fixed a few after conversions (by others). If you use the S54, you can keep exisiting axles etc
Wiring an aftermarket computer sounds easy, but you then also have to pay for custom dyno tuning and you generally lose some features if you buy a budget ECU.
 

I've called up your work shop on many occasions to ask for a build price, even sent pms on the forum with no replies.

I was at one stage contemplating sending my mr2 up to qld for the build cause no one was helping me here, but now I bought a full manual Camry and doing it myself slowly with a mate.

sorry, i get daily calls about conversions and I dont remember any details. I cant find any emails from you on my system. we try to reply to most emails daily, but tricky ones take longer
 
i have looked back at your 2 PM's and I have replied to both of them. You did not ask me about doing a conversion. You asked where to source an engine package from in sydney and if i made mounts. I told you I could supply all that
 
In any case, i cant give exact prices for conversions like this over email/phone and I tell everyone that same story. I need to see the car to see what I'm getting . Plus,  there are so many variables with computers, diffs, axle swaps etc. its impossible to guess what people want.

personally, if you want to keep the cost down, i would stick to the camry loom/ecu. this way you can avoid dyno tuning and an emission test when engineering, especially since you plan to leave it NA. (emissions test would require more dyno tuning). half cut is the best way, so you can match the ECU to the engine with no problems.
 
i used a basic adaptronic ECU and found it hard to pass emissions as the ECU did not support sequential injection and its functions were limited.

thanks for all the response to my question. im most likely going to splice the two looms together and use a piggyback system if i ever plan to go down the tuning road.
