I've cross threaded the axel nut on my AW11 front stub axels, leaving a heap of chewed metal on the axel threads. The axel looks ok and the damage is limited to 3-4 threads but I don't have a die big enough to run down and clean them up.

The thread size is the same as all early FWD corolla, camry and celica rear axels or both AW11 and SW20 front axels.

The local thread repairer (one for the whole city) charges $60 call out and $80/hr, which is fine, but its a 5 min job that I could do myself with the right die.

Does anyone have a die that fits that I could borrow for 5 mins?

Cheers,

Nick

Unfortunately I don't and I don't own verniers. Using a ruler, it looks to be 20mm x 1.5 (I've checked the pitch against my 12x1.5 tap).

If its a male thread any half decent engineering supply shop will have a thread (knife edge) file.  Go for it.
