Im in need of a new clutch soon with a new turbo being put in
From researching the forums the 6 puck un-sprung clutch seems to be the go.
Im just wondering, for a street car is this clutch too harsh? I drive about 300Kms a week, my longest drive is about 15min in and out of work so im happy to put up with a harsh clutch.
But if possible i would like to hear some feedback. also how people go with riding the clutch when in bumper to bumper traffic

This is my turbo kit that Jeff (racer X) has fabbed up for me (currently caught up in customs).
that turbo is just his mock up one i will be running a GT3071. Im not sure how much power i want/ will be capable of reaching.

I went with a clutchmasters FX400 on my old MR2 which was built up to 316KWs at the wheels and it felt close to stock driveability wise.

It chattered very so slightly but I wouldn't hesitate in buying another. I bought the six puck sprung disc which is shown above.

It's a trade off. I never liked mine, but dealt with them for a few years. My left leg is still stronger due to traffic. They don't like being slipped, so wear faster with that kinda driving. Never had slipping problems either, except after a few hard runs @ the strip.
 
Dylan has a larger GT3076 with a full face organic Exedy clutch that holds up to his driving. He doesn't give it constant abuse, nor is it drag raced or tracked. If you have a similar life in mind, then organic would be my recommendation. If not, live with a puck clutch or pay extra for a more user friendly but costly twin plate (OS Giken in that case).

I have an Exedy "heavy duty button clutch" (NOT cushion button), with about 360rwhp, and it has been quite good even in heavy traffic. It's sprung, 5-puck I think, maybe 6, I can't remember. The clutch pedal feel is like stock, the engagement window is just a bit narrower. It feels fine when you slip it in stop-go traffic, and it doesn't make any noise. I have a stock flywheel.
The only time it has let me down was when I last went to the drags, on a warm day. I was stuck in heavy traffic for about an hour on the way to the drags, so the clutch would have been really hot already, and on my third run the clutch slipped when I launched. It was fine on the way home about an hour later though. That is the only time it has ever slipped under high load.

Rob, try Dylans. You'll feel how nice an Organic feels compared to yours. I remember trying yours, not as pleasant as an organic. Given yours isn't a daily, it's absolutely fine though. It gets quite frustrating when you're tired at the end of the day & find 30-45min worth of highway stop & go ahead of you. Multiplied on a hot day too.

My previous MR2 had an Exedy organic clutch, so I know how they feel (basically the same as stock).
Of course mine isn't quite as nice as stock or organic, but I'm very picky about clutches and I don't mind mine, especially for a fun car that I don't have to drive daily. Of course in heavy traffic it's frustrating (I really hate driving manual in traffic, especially with lots of hills), which is one of the many reasons why I have a separate (auto) daily driver. I never intentionally drive the MR2 along a route that is prone to having bad traffic, because I have to concentrate very hard to not stall or bunny-hop with my clutch. As long as I'm concentrating it's fine.
BTW, I haven't tried a twin-plate clutch before, so I haven't experienced how they feel. I would probably get annoyed by the chatter, if it's noticeably loud. I'd like to try someone else's twin-plate clutch some day, just to see how it feels and sounds.

i HAD a solid 6 puck ...and i LOVED it for driveability/throttle response. but as there was NO give in it the whole car would shudder if you tried to feather the clutch at all. reversing and parking was a pretty revvy sort of affair and it didn't like crawling along in traffic. When i put it in the car was in rural NZ, so traffic wasn't an issue.
 
I've now got a sprung hub 5-6 puck...it's excedy so probably the same one as RobK... It drives pretty much like stock as far as parking and crawling goes.... but i notice the loss in direct throttle response... it's not much, it just feels like a bit more turbo lag... but when you're trying to get back onto the throttle at the limit to drive through or out of a corner it's noticeable.
 
if its a street car and you see heavy traffic i'd probably go sprung, if its a track car DEFINATELY solid... one more consideration of the solid hub is i got more attention from police  - a result of the extra revving to park or move in heavy traffic... makes you look a tad like a ****er and if you don't want the cops going over your car it's worth keeping in mind.

I had a cushion button, its like a combination of a pucked disc and organic disc, Exeedy make one that's not to bad but it could not hold my power.
 
I have 230rwkw and now run a ACT clutch, organic disc with a pressure plate rated at 390 ft/lbs,  it has never slipped once and does a great job at putting power to the ground, you can really feel the bite.
