Amayama was awesome the last six orders I did with them over the past year or so.
At the moment a quote reply is taking 1 week instead of 24hrs.

Unfortunately toyota australia pays more for their parts than other countries. So even if you work there you wont ness get the best price.

The inflated price is not soley toyota aus' s mark up.

Yep this is also true. I find Subaru Australia no different.
Occasionally I find places like Japanparts.com have specials on. I ring my local soobie dealership and they have a similar special, but price is nowhere near as good due to trade price agreements Subaru Australia has put in place.

Also remember Toyota's are still built for the Australian market. Some models appear in Japan but are not 100% common, so the parts database heavily caters for Australian parts. As a result you probably find Australian parts are much more competively priced than parts Toyota Australia has to import.

Also just recently ordered a bunch of parts ($600+) from Amayama, got back to me within 2-3 days. Made another small order later on and got back within 24 hrs so I maybe the bigger and complex stuff takes longer, especially control arms which isn't usually a "common replacement" that's my uneducated/inexperienced guess. You probably tried already but just try emailing back saying you need to finish before a certain event etc might help...

I'm happy to support Aussie market too but $700 vs $300 it's a no brainer lol (sorry locals :()

Also on that note, Castle hill Toyota are *supposed* to do discount for Toymods members

Supposedly, I Haven't been able to try this one as yet, I joined up toymods in early March, still waiting on my membership pack, haven't received a club card with them so I can't make any use of the discounts that come with the club membership. I "should" receive the card in December which leaves less than a month of use to reap some of the benefits of being a club member over there.

I just tried a quote from NST NZ, very fast turn around on the quote. But on this particular item they came in at exactly the same price as Castle Hill Toyota's retail price once the freight was added. So there is not always a benefit in going overseas.

How much was the part worth wiso out of interest? What was it?

The direct email of the North Shore Toyota NZ parts guy is keegan@nst.co.nz if anyone is planning to get some parts priced up.

dennis the menace
North Shore Toyota and North West Toyota were always the places to go for MR2 parts when I was "back home".  At one point I think both dealerships had MR2 owners on their workforce, and would always give a very keen discount to club members.

In Australia I'm having a good experience from Toowoomba Toyota so far - if the part is still available, that is.  It's got to the point where usually Peter or Russell will ask me which MR2 I'm asking about, and there is no issue with finding numbers for the SC.

Also include the model or frame number when doing this.
Thank you :)

I don't think the card is going to be useful for the discount anyway @ Castle hill. From what I heard it was more of a mention it whilst on the phone kinda thing, and if you're talking to the right guy, he'll do you the discount price then and there.
Sure if you're attending in person they'll probably want to see your card. You can have always forgotten it when you pick it up your parts though.
I've heard that if you beg them the right way mentioning you are an enthuiast etc. They will give you a discount regardless.

I know what you mean though about the card. I signed up in Jan and only received my "pack" in August, which was nothing more than a card and a sticker. The card has my name on it but can't even remember if it has a number or anything.

I tried to get parts there and required proof of membership to the club, hence needed a membership card.

it was for a clutch bearing off a AE101 Silvertop, having a hard time getting it in Aus. $99 Castle Hill, $65 NST + $30 post.
