What a great day I am having, honestly it could not be better.
 
I come home to my car, noticed it had been blowing a bit of mist and water out, suspected it was just simply moisture, but then I see milk in my oil cap

I feel like this is the AW11 all over again, but only worse. My source of enjoyments is nearly undrivable now as I feel the gasket could let go at any stage and leave me stranded. The feeling of sadness after all this hard work, painting, rebuilding and planning only to be let down by the motor. I knew it was never going to last much longer but I was hoping it would hold out for another year till I was on my opens and could legally drive it with the v6 swap.

Now I have some fantastic decisions to make:

1: change head gasket. 

My fear is that the head will be screwed beyond belief, and the bottom end has developed a ticking

2: buy a standard 3sge to put in
3: swap v6 and drive it illegally
4: buy a beams and swap it in, legal for me to drive

At this stage I'm leaning towards 4

But yeah, this really ruins my plan. majorly.

Just do 1....
2 could do the same thing again in 6 months time putting you back to square one.
3 could lead to losing your license
4 is a $2500+ conversion (if your lucky) and will just be wasted when you throw it out for a V6.

Change the head gasket mate. If you haven't overheated it numerous times, then the head should be ok - just get it shimmed.

And if it's stuffed, then I'm sure there's a good one floating around on on this forum somewhere.

Either way, definitely a good idea to open her up and have a look regardless.

I agree to check what exactly what is wrong before deciding what to do.

Maybe reco your current motor even if the head is shot. You should be able to replace it- may be the best/cheapest at this stage.
 
A BEAMS would be nice, but to do it properly may cost a lot more than you might think. Takes a lot more time, effort and money to fit something different to the original.

And honestly, any replacement engine, V6, beams, etc from a wrecker could be in not much better condition than what you have.
 
Refresh what you have, are you sure the bottom end is making noise?  I'd do headgasket, check valve clearances and reshim as necessary, put new bearings in there before you do a bearing, but if you think you've legitimately got bottom end noise its probably too late.  That **** doesn't start making noise until somethings already busted.  Depending on bore condition etc, could hone & fit new rings, but depends on how long you want to hang onto it for, if its just a temporary solution, don't worry about it.
 
Happy to help out but sure you know a few other blokes that can probably spin a spanner.  Oh, and I don't work for free anymore (or even worse, at a loss) :P
