After all the discussion about my gearbox...I've just got a call from Gearbox Express, and this is the situation:
 
- They confirmed that my 5th gear shift fork is broken
- They can't fix (all) the issues by taking parts from the other box from Gorilla
- Apparently the synchros in my box are in worse condition than the box from Gorilla (I guess I'm just used to it haha)
- So, the end result is that I'm going to use the box from Gorilla after all (instead of mine), and I'm not going to bother fixing the synchros because they are still better than what I've had until now
- I'm still using the Quaife LSD of course, so I'll be giving the other LSD to Gorilla to sell to someone else, so I'm subsequently getting the box from Gorilla for a really good price.

So what are you going to do with the old box?

There probably wouldn't be many parts that I could sell off it, being an early E153.
It will probably end up at the scrap yard, unless someone else can find a use for it.
I may not even take it back home with me, as I have no use for it anymore.

Can you keep your old box Rob? I currently have a small leak from my E153 and if it turns out to be a part that needs replacing I might be able to buy it from your old one?

No worries, I guess I can keep it then. I was going to ask Gearbox Express if they wanted to keep it for spares.

Yeah im after the selector shaft and the other parts to convert a fwd camry 153 to rwd.

I got my car back from Gearbox Express today with everything fixed, and I'm very happy with the outcome!
The box from Gorilla Industries is now in my car, with the Quaife LSD replacing the clutch style LSD that was in there before. I left the synchros alone, and they actually feel totally fine, maybe even better than my original box. This could mean that I had worn out synchros all along in my original box, but got used to it without realising. Or maybe the revised synchro design makes up for it somewhat.
Before anyone asks, I haven't put the Quaife LSD to the test yet, but I will soon.
 
In case anyone is wondering, the damage to my original gearbox was exactly what I expected...broken shift fork for 5th gear, and a crack in the end cover for the casing:
 

 

 
I'm so happy it's all sorted. Now I just have to wait for my new rims to arrive so I can move on to fitting those!

haha such a fail! Normally I would be annoyed, but I have nearly all the same content in my build thread on the 'other' forum, so I can copy it back across, with the benefit of being able to ignore any posts that aren't very important in hindsight.
Thanks for admitting it straight-up though.
 
EDIT: given what I said above, you can give up on trying to undo the deletions.
Also, I just had a look and there were hardly any posts that I really need to retrieve, so it's no big deal anyway lol.
