Some very important parts arrived today, thanks to Dylan from Gorilla Industries!
Now things can really start to get underway at the workshop.

CP pistons (1 step / 20 thou oversized)...

Eagle rods:

ARP head and main stud kits:

And this one is just for fun, the stock CT26 turbo alongside the GT3082R:

The head has been sent away for a port and polish, and work will start on the block tomorrow to get it as good as new again.
Some time soon I'll be painting the rocker cover black, with the TOYOTA logo left in bare polished metal.

Awesome stuff, the machine work on the block is this being done in house or being sent away?

Awesome! I want that manifold....Work of automotive art.

I'm assuming your pistons are 20 thou over.

How much was that GPS head unit?

It's being sent away (not far away, just down the road, I don't know what the company is called).
The head came back today after having a port and polish, and it looks very nice. I'll get a photo later.

Yeah I really do love the manifold, I'm more excited about that part than any other!

Yes the pistons are 20 thou over.

The RRP of the AVIC-F910BT head unit is about $2500, JB Hi Fi were advertising it for $1999, and they sold it to me for about $1500 because I purchased the other stuff with it, and because it will become obsolete soon (apparently the newer unit will have hardly any improvements, apart from newer maps which I don't care too much about).

I need to choose and buy a clutch very soon before the engine and gearbox go back together, so I was having a brief look on the web today, and also talking to my mechanic.

Does anyone have any experience with Exedy's TYK-6441HD (heavy duty clutch for 3SGTE) or TYK-6441HDCB (heavy duty cushion button clutch for 3SGTE)? Are either/both of those clutches good for a 'daily' driven MR2 with almost double the stock power? I can deal with a slightly heavier pedal, but not excessively heavy, and I want it to handle slipping without excessive clutch wear. My driving style doesn't involve excessive slipping anyway, but I'm pedantic so I get stressed out if I am forced to slip the clutch or if I stuff up, so it would be nice to know that my clutch can handle it once in a while (I drive heaps of kilometers, so in the long run the clutch slipping will accumulate quickly).

This is what it says about each of the clutches on the Exedy website:

TYK-6441HD:
"The Heavy Duty (HD suffix) clutch kits are perfectly suited for use in lightly modified vehicles or vehicles carrying loads used for daily driving or in amateur motor sports activities. A high performance clutch cover with increased clamp load which will transmit an increase in engine torque is included in these kits with an organic clutch disc creating a performance clutch kit with smooth take off drivability."

TYK-6441HDCB:
Our Heavy Duty Cushion Button (HDCB suffix) clutch kits are recommended for use in moderately tuned vehicles that are driven on a daily basis.
This product utilises the positive aspects of an extremely durable ceramic material which has the capacity to transmit increased engine torque while maintaining a relatively comfortable engagement feeling attributed to the unique process of attaching the ceramic material to the clutch disc segment or marcel.
To complement these unique clutch discs, HDCB clutch kits are also supplied with high performance clutch cover assemblies with increased clamp loads.

well i would goo with the HDCB because exedy hd is what callum has in his sw20.. i doubt that would stand up to daily 250kw...

Make sure you use an OEM thrust bearing. I hate the excedy thrust bearing with a passion!

The NA and Turbo HD ones are very different (I have had both).
The HD will hold up to 250, just not repeatedly for hard launches. Street duties should be more than enough.

If you want to line it up for a few passes at the drags, you are gonna have issues.

Corey...can you get me a price on the two Exedy ones that I mentioned?
TYK-6441HD (heavy duty clutch)
TYK-6441HDCB (heavy duty cushion button clutch)

What do you have in your car BTW?
