I found this tyre pressure article (see below link) was quiet useful and I am sure some of you were still recommended by the tyre shop/mechanics to pumped up 40+psi. I hope this could help some of the drivers who are attending the MTC2016.

I probably wont as I am taking the rest of the week as a holiday down in sydney.

That article applies to semi slick tyres which are very different to your average street tyre. The sidewalls on these tyres are very stiff compared to a road tyre. Road tyres need more pressure to reduce sidewall flex. If the sidewall flexes too much, you lose traction. 40+psi is certainly best for a road tyre. I have proved this many times.
FYI I run 31psi hot with my Hoosier semi slicks which aligns with what the article says.
