I will confirm 2016 in the next week or two. Its just getting WP management to confirm the dates then we are good to go.
There will be some refinements to the regularity and shoot out to reduce down time off the track and more time on the track. This will need to need to be in the form of an 'app', led screen, delegating your target time via your phone.
Both days will be starting earlier so we can actually be driving onto the track at 9am not 9.20am.
There is a chance Sonic Boom will have his car on Australian soil for 2016. Just a maybe at this stage. A friend has put his hand up to bring his Chev powered drift car for MTC plus drift demo in 2016. Turns out his car is actually ready, he is a well experienced drifter so it will be entertaining to see how it all pans out.
I am working on '2 x 5 lap demonstration races' for MR2's and selected cars. This will be more of a training exercise/presentation for people wanting to upgrade there license to club level racing. We will need minimum 6 cars to get it off the ground. All cars must be from circuit class: full cage, harness, race suit etc. They do not need to be a wild spec(bog stock is completely ok) but do need to pass safely requirements. I invisage 'Stuka/Admin/Highlander/Sweetpete/the Pearl/Knightrous(hopefully)/B24/Owen's Celica to make up core group of competitors with (hopefully) more inspired to drop a cage in the car and be part of the first one make MR2 race. It will be a rolling start/two by two configuration with focus on driving together in tight formation, exercising racecraft, gentleman driving etiquette which I have no doubt the above mentioned drivers will provide as they have all been driving together in Circuit class the last few years. People interested can make it known here or via email.
The photographers will also be provided with more detailed information on options for better locations for action shots, clothing requirements, track access and education on the issue of 'snakes' located around the track. This year there have been some fantastic photo's taken from some new locations but I will be looking to improve again in 2016. It would be good to see 4 photographers and some video camera's set up over the two days in 2016. A drone is also a must. Photographers will receive a passenger wristband and media pass for greater access of the track. They will need to pay for accommodation and meals with accommodation reserved so you do not have to camp up the street.
Officials and volunteers: Massive thanks for all the help this year. Everyone who did help out did manage a number of passenger runs and a few runs in their own cars over the two days so we all had a ball. The same will be on offer for 2016. Hope to see 6-8 people put their hands up for 2016. The key area is marshaling of cars for both days and changing track layouts. Someone to manage weigh-in of cars will be needed in 2016 but I will be looking into someone setting up scales in one of the garages in 2016 for the convenience factor.
Merchandise: This has been discussed at length on a few occasions but I will be doing something about it in 2016. I have a vision for shirts, hats, stickers. Any input would be appreciated.
Media: I have been talking with Pete about creating youtube clips to educate people on MTC to reduce downtime at the event so there will be some 'how to' video's coming online in the coming months to help people understand track layouts/regularity rules and reg's/class reg's and more.
That's all for now.
