What sort of lap times should i be aiming for with a stock MR2 (hopefully with Beams power)?
(or what times to i need to do to beat Tree? lol)

Me and Stevie go way back (right Steve?). Dw I'll be there, you can count on it. What tyres or suspension will you be running?

I'm running totally stock (17 year old) suspension with cheap Falken tyres in stock sizes ( i'm still saving for decent 17" wheels and tyres)
(And a worn out 46 year old driver with no talent lol)

 Look out for second hand wheels and tyres but go for the best tyres you can get. They will make a Lot of difference.

17" should open up quite a few options, as sweet Pete said it will make the biggest difference, after driving. Go for hankook rs3 or Yoko ad08 something similar to that. If strapped for cash can still pull decent times with just good rubber with stock sussy

Yeah that would be a good target for a beginner.
From what I've heard, most beginners do about 1:18-1:20 ish at Wakefield for the first time.

Hmm 1:18 pretty quick for first timer I think 1:19 is a good base average benchmark with street tyres like the ones I listed with a stock NA SW20. 1:16.6 was my best, first time in 2013, stock (BEAMS!! ofc). But I scored Yoko AO48s which are semis. So much grip the car had more rolls than a coaster...
