So i know we've all been buying up BBKs as of late and I'm curious what everyone is doing for rotors.  What brand/type etc.  I have a few options at hand but interested in what you guys are using/used/going to use/wish you could use etc.

Cheers

Not sure if you just mean for the bigger disc setup or something else but this is the order i would go for:-

* EBAY no name brands
* RDA slotted (paint the bells as they're not coated and will rust, used at the track many times with no complaints)
* Dixel (Jap and cost more, better than the RDA's)
* DBA std/slotted/4000 slotted etc
* DBA 5000 alloy hat rotors (the lightest and best but you pay for it)

There are other options for alloy hat rotors for the Supra from Performance friction and the like but not for the RX8 afaik.

I was looking at DBA 5000s but they've had no interest in the RX8 rotors.  They have a design but need ~6 interested people to warrant a run of them.  4000 was obviously my next choice, but like the weight savings of the 5000s.

That sucks, They have had them in their catalogue for years.

Greg has them on his MR2 as well.

Ok makes more sense now. They said they had rotors but no hats. Had me thinking wtf? hrmm maybe I should hang on a bit n see if the situation changes.

RDA sucks for rust. I need to coat them with something as the pads dont reach the inner part of the rotor. So its always rusty

I've wanted to do a BBK upgrade for a while but just haven't had the money, this is a promising option I found while I was researching rotor options. I wanted to go with two piece rotors to offset the the weight gain of going with bigger brakes. Racingbrake.com is an american company that does a two piece rotor for both the LS400 and the RX8 so you can use them front and back with the Delta V kit.

According to their claims you would save just over 8 kg's compared to a one piece setup. They have implemented some interesting designs and if you interested check out this review, the guy explains some of the features and does some DD and track testing.

Great find!

Only issue is they're larger than the factory 315mm and will not fit i am affraid.

Chausta, time to get the brake caliper paint out. I had to do the same thing. The thing that pissed me off was they said that the new batches of RDA discs would be coated...... well they're not....

yeh i did notice they were 3mm larger. So your certain they wouldn't work out? I wonder why they didn't stick to factory specs?

Yeah, I know what you mean, and the rust looks crap.
I painted my RDA's with ordinary rattle can grey enamel to match my wheels that seems to lasting well, and looks heaps better.
