Farrout, I didn't realise how much would need to go into building a 300RWKW beast!!

I can see how you managed to put 25k into it now!

Alright, well.. After reading all of that. And taking into consideration that either way I go, I'm gonna have to pump lots of money into it. I'm thinking I might go a boosted V6 setup or something :p

Thank you for helping me put my options into perspective hey, I really do appreciate it!

No problem.

It would most likely cost more than 25K these days as labour rates have risen since the work was done. I think it was around 2008 when I built it.

Whatever you decide to do just make sure you do it in the right order. If you think you will go with a big turbo then build the engine first instead of fitting the turbo and then blowing it up on the dyno for example.

I got the majority of my parts from Dylmrt.

Gee, I'd had to imagine what the labour rates would be nowadays..

And, I'll definitely do it all in the most sensible way possible! When I get the build going, which could be in the next 6 months or so, I'll start up a thread for those who are interested in something a little less common!

I have a strong feeling I'll be getting majority of what I need/can get, from Dylmrt as well haha!

+1 for Dylmrt That's who I used for most of my build.

MR2_Bryce82, I'd recommend you sit in a 250rwkw car and determine what's usable for you. the power number really doesn't mean that much, it comes down to how you use your car. I personally wouldn't go down the path of 300rwkw car for a daily driver, as the amount of work you have to do for ignition etc makes it a lot less reliable.

In general, a 250rwkw SW20 feels will perform closer to a 300rwkw s15 over a quarter mile just from the characteristics of the car and being able to better launch.

Thanks Dylmrt, I'm starting to think the same thing haha.. I think that I'll slowly build it up, forged internals, better flowing fuel system and such, until the day that I can finally get the GT3076 on there and just see what I get.. I've been bitten by the power bug and I probably need to settle it down a little! Haha..

I have no doubt that it will still go when I need it to, and leave most cars for dead off the line!

Just curious, how does the GT3076 spool on the 3sgte? At what RPM range would you say you reach full boost?

Its hard to describe. i don't reach 21psi until just before 5k rpm in the lower gears, but the "lag" doesn't really matter, since the turbo spooling at 5-6 psi in the lower revs is still giving me more power to the wheels than a stock turbo at 8-9psi at the equivalent revs, just that you have a lot more power to play with lol.

If you're worried about lag, you can get a GTX3071 and still easily make 250rwkw, and you'll have boost a tad earlier.

Again I'd recommend you sit in one or better yet drive one and decide from there. IMO, if someone chops you at the lights when you're running 250rwkw, they deserve to have beaten you haha.

If you need help with parts let me know. Dollar is good now so things are well priced.

Haha, you did well to explain it! That makes perfect sense..

I am a little worried about lag, but at the same time I understand that by wanting more power its something you have to deal with! And by the sounds of it, it doesn't seem like it would bother me..

Yeah, I will have to see what I can do about getting a hold of one of my parents mates.. I'm pretty sure he owns an MR2 with a GT3071 in it.. It may not be at 250RWKW but at least it'll give me a better idea. And I'll have to trust you on that one ;)

Thanks dude, you'll be the first person I'll be in contact with!
Cheers for all of your help!!
