Hey, just wondering if anyone has recommendations for quality front brake rotors for a 96 Bathurst SW20... or tips on what brands to avoid. I've read in various places that DBA are supposed to be superior to RDA, but I can't actually find suitable DBA rotors in their catalogue – and I don't know whether that claim is just crap anyway.

I'm also interested to hear whether slotted rotors actually provide any real benefit if the car isn't being tracked.

Thanks.

A couple of years ago to reco my brakes I decided to fit new RDA rotors (stock, not grooved or drilled) to my earlier sdub with the smaller brakes.
At the same time I also fitted stock Toyota pads and put a kit thru the calipers.

All I can say is the brakes are still smooth and powerful after 25 k kms. Absolutely no trace of shudder.
All rotor surfaces are still smooth and even, both front's and rear's with very little pad wear.
What more could you ask for?

Thanks Reddtarga. All sounds pretty sensible to me. You don't happen to remember how much the OEM Toyota pads and caliper kits were do you?

I got the pads and reco kits from Lithia Toyota, and I think they also have the stuff for larger brakes too.
You can easily get the part nos from Toyodiy, and check the current $US price from Lithia including shipping.

Most people still think DBA is a better product, and probably justified somewhat in the hardcore racing end of things, but for a street driven car, DBAs have performed well enough for me. The gap between the two is much closer now, especially given the new range of rotors that DBA has.

Thanks Dylan.

What prices do you have on the regular and slotted rotors for front and back?  (for 96 Bathurst)

Road and Track
we stock genuine Toyota pads as they are much the same price as quality brands like Bendix, and we have no problems with squealing

we have had no problems with RDA rotors on everyday cars
