Would like to pick your brains with aw11 brake lock issue.
I believe its a pretty standard issue, that being front brake lock on this model.
I am running standard rotors all round, (new) and EBC reds in the front and greens in the rear.
Calipers have been overhauled and good quality fluid used, suspension is stnd with exception of koni front struts.
I have no soft pedal issues etc however, the fronts do lock a bit too much and easy for my liking.
Perhaps reds in the rear, greens in the front and or a bias valve!
Any advice on your experiences would be appreciated.

Road and Track
i've driven and owned heaps of these and not had undue problems with lock-up on street cars.
i suggest getting brake pressures tested. any good brake shop will have test gauges.
you should be looking for arounf 800psi in both F&R in a panic stop (ie pushing as hard as possible) with engine running and booster working. any big variation indicates a mechanical problem

I have now checked the pressures as suggested, they seem to be pretty even and consistant.
Any information on what people have done to rectify this problem would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Easy way to fix a front lock up issue is not put such a good biting pad up front. simplest way.

The next best way to stop the front locking sorry to say, is just changing the way you mentally drive the car, can be hard but with practice and training you should be able to pull them up very well without lockup.

An adjustable Bias valve would work but you would need to set up up on a track, and even then it wouldn't be great for the street.

Try hitting a track and get some practice in. first before you go changing too much.

Can I ask what car are you coming from previously, what are you comparing the brake lockup to?

Good luck with it.

Use better tires.

Thanks for the advice. Have had the car out on 2 track days! You just cant stand on the brakes on these things at the end of the straight! Not with my setup anyway.  I will soften the front up heaps and remove some front pad and see how that goes. Cheers

are you just mashing the pedal as hard as you can at the end of the straight?

or are you transferring the weight with a bit of gradual braking first?

I have tried both methods, first time out with std brakes then with the small upgrades. same end result.
Will go with softer front end set up and some pad surface area removal and try that. Thanks for your input.

Get an adjustable brake bias fitted, then you can set it up perfect.

by pad surface area removal are you thinking of cutting some of the pad material away from the brake pad?

What tyres are you running out of curiosity?

I am still a little perplexed by this. I know plenty of guys who can hit 180-200km at the end of Wakefield park straightaway with the same pads you have, stand on the brakes at the end and not have them lock up.

Sorry I can't of more help, I hope you can find what your after by changing the mechanics of it.

good luck
