G'day everyone my names Dave. New to the world of MR2. Well, kind of. Bought my 2 last year N/A, November from Melbourne, pretty much stock and good condition. I was suprised, no leaks no problem starting, no funny sounds ('cept the time I dropped a small bolt in the timing belt.... lol all sorted though and no lasting damage, long story). Still learning it's capabilities (safely). Yet to go on driving skill lessons on it though, but I'd say I'm a sensible driver.
Been lurking around the MR2 forums (Aus, US, UK). Good community of it out there. Handy when doing maintenance on it. Not a mechanic but it's fun learning about the 2. Slowly teaching myself how components of a car work.
So far, I haven't done much mods on the car, mainly due to my wanting how things work first before buying and putting it in. I research alot and do things in practice if I can. Only things I've done on the car so far is the usual maintenance of liquids (oil, filter, air filter, gearbox oil, coolant flush). Checked valve clearance, brakes, rotors, calipers wheels they seem fine. Pipes/hoses no cracking and leaking (Checked underneath as well for the coolant pipes). Put in new speakers and head unit myself (boffin by trade), man it was a mess in there so I tidied it up.
Oh, the air con doesn't seem to work. Well... There's Air, but like 2 degrees above "warm". I'll ask in the right forum.
My plans for the MR2:
-New Wheels Enkei RPF1s (I'll post another thread on the wheels/tyres forum)
-Coilovers (Gotta save up for it, hopefully early next year)
-3SGTE swap (Save up again, mid next year, or late)
I want to change the belts and hoses on my N/A, but I'd want to take the engine out of the car to make it easier. However since I'll be swapping, I thought the engine would survive till the swap max late next year.
Used to drive around Albury/Wodonga, up to newcastle and around there now and then. Drove all the way to Darwin from Vic where I am at now.
Cheers guys, sorry for long post. Might be here awhile :D Hopefully.
