You also shouldn't have a high bite on a brand new clutch. It should be the complete opposite, You should feel bite as close to the floor as possible, progressively getting higher as the clutch wears more. Usually means when the clutch was replaced, it wasn't installed properly for it to have a high bite, or your slave needs readjusting. The fact that your slave was replaced though still suggests the latter but I don't doubt it wasn't installed correctly either.

There's no doubt your clutch has failed.
On an aftermarket clutch you should have a lighter, more tactile throwout, with no noise increase during clutch movement. However during driving around at low rpm you might notice a bit of chatter, but you should have already disengaged the clutch completely before this even starts to happen.
If the endoscope *looks* fine, then chances are your throwout bearing has failed, which suggests a poor clutch install. Being an Exedy I think Knightrous is on the money though.

On my daily I've had the same clutch kit twice (Xtreme HD organic disc and plate on lightened flywheel). First install was great light pedal feel and noticeable noise under load in 2nd gear, but I didn't care since the clutch worked so well. Second time it was installed at the same dealership but a different person, unless I depress the pedal a cm or two, there's a slight squeal that sounds like belt slip. The throwout bearing is slowly failing as a result but I still have good clutch feel, and less noise under load this time around.

Luckily I still have the pressure plate and disc from my first install, when I know im up for a new clutch (or can afford it), I'll be sending it to NPC to recondition the pressure plate, and make me a better clutch disc using the original as a template, if they don't already have a replacement part number ;)

I know the turbos have a pedal adjustment, do the NAs not have this?

Okay guys,
5sgte: yes you can adjust pedal, however all this seems to do ius shorten the amount of length the clutch has to go from disengaged to engaged or lengthen it, it seems to keep the bite at the same point.

However, went and saw the people i brought the clutch kit from, showed them a video recording i have that shows the noise and me depressing the clutch,
and they said to email it to them right away, they will forward it to exedy and hopefully have me in this week to replace it under warranty..
with a new sports tuff kit.

Sounds as tho the throwout has collapsed, and could be a manafacturer fault, however if its not, the installer (my work- charlestown toyota) will be footing the bill due to a bad install.

So thats a good outcome i think.

until then he said just drive it, but tomorrow he should have an answer and should fit me in this week to pull it down and replace it.

Will update about how i get on.

Sounds like you've got some progress happening.  A little concerning, though, that you've been advised to keep driving it.

Hopefully it turns out to be a faulty throwout bearing - a Toyota workshop not being able to manage a simple job like a clutch replacement doesn't make for good reading . . .

My thoughts exactly Dennis!
Toyota wont be touching the car again,
the exedy supplier is doing the replacement,

Dealerships have to make money too, but sometimes in the case of clutch replacements, minor adjustments need to be made after install for it to work/feel perfect, it's unfathomable every job is done perfectly the first time.

Sometimes followups aren't feasible when they might be billing you a set amount of hours but spent too much time already. From the feedback I mentioned before with my dealership install, I feel the same way about taking it back to them once my throwout is gone and I'm up for a new clutch.
In my case though this was all done when the car was still under lease, so I had no choice but to use the dealership for all servicing/parts replacement. Even when my power steering pump needed rebuilding I had to get it billed by the dealer who sent it off to a 3rd party.

Good to hear you are getting it sorted through the proper channels.

I'd say a good outcome Ethan!. Hope it is followed through for you mate. I usually get screwed by dealerships and workshops so I stick with who I know most of the time.
