I'm guessing you'd still be able to drive it on the track if you wanted.  Why not cash in the rego, buy a $2000 something that might tow it.
I might know a place you could store it. 
And yes 12 months will fly by quicker than you think.

Just drive it for the year. I drove mine around for about a year and a half whilst still on my P's...
 
Its not F6 Typhoon or SS Commodore, cops don't know what these cars are.
 
Just don't hang out at Kooragang or in town.

Why not take off the turbo, fit a standard NA exhaust manifold. Disconnect the intercooler then fit a standard intake system.
12months later, put it back on.

Would need an NA ECU as well I think, otherwise the fueling would be way out! Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Excellent idea B24. This should be quite easy to do.
Block the oil feed and return.
Loop the coolant lines to the turbo.
NA ex manifold
Adapt the intake plumbing easily

Seller claims it is for a 3sgte. Looks like a cross between a turbo manifold and an NA one which might work well for you if are going to remove the turbo for a while. Just get a short bit of exhaust made to go between the outlet on the manifold above and your factory B pipe. Easy as!

I drove mine for a while without an exh wheel on the turbo and I tell ya it was doey, you will not enjoy it and will wunna sell it more!  There is a thread on IMOC about doing this,
