And thus, my exemption was revoked

Sucks to hear you got caught out dude. The P plate laws are absolutely ridiculous. You can drive a 210kw NA with absolutely no issues. Which can potentially put out the same power to weight ratio as an MR2 Turbo, but as soon as anyone mentions the words 'Turbo charged' everyone has to crack down.
I wish there was a defensive driving course that you could do to prove that you can safely handle a turbo car.. Obviously not something with a stupidly high power output, but something like a stock MR2 turbo!
Sorry, I know it's a little off topic. I just needed to rant.

Good luck with the sale! It looks to be in good condition! I'll share it around, got a few mates looking into buying!

Dudeman
How long until you get you open licence?

Why not buy a daily dunger until then - and keep the turbo on ice and work on it until you get your open licence?

I agree.  Buy a cheapie in the mean time and work on it & get it to how you want it.

Opens another year :(

But, thanks Bryce, I know that's what I don't understand :/ or drive a turbo diesel with 1000nm of torque...
But the laws are there for a reason I guess
And yeah I've done one defensive driving course, go to the track and navigate for an experienced rally driver
I know the difference between safe driving and being a cock,

And yeah it's in great condition for its age :)

You're nuts. Good straight hardtops are not easy to find. 12 months is not a long time at all.

I agree somewhat with the P plater laws - a twitchy little mid engined car has a lot more potential to bring the inexperienced grief as the turbo spools up with gusto mid corner. Sure, a v6 commondore or aurion has more power but they are fairly predictable. A nicely powered turbo diesel gives heaps of oomph but they won't scream their #!#$ off without you really wanting them to.

Ultimately you can't make laws against stupidity and darwinism prevails. Unfortunately traffic laws have to be dumbed down to the lowest common denominator and the gatesys of NSW have to wait. A full 12 months!

Oh yeah, I do agree with you there Dudeman.. I know how the MR2s handle and I understand that if you put an inexperienced driver straight into a turbo model it is potentially a recipe for disaster. But I just wish P platers weren't generalised as power hungry d***heads! Sucks when specific idiots ruin it for the responsible kids..

Anyway, I'll leave it at that! Not trying to jack the thread!

Hmm
I see everyone's point, only thig is
I can't afford another car ATM
And I can't afford to store it somewhere safely
I don't have a garage or carport
Or the room to store it :/

It also has a sunroof installed, so best of both worlds
The lightness of a hardtop and the semi open roof of a targa
