Has anyone experienced really bad static through the radio? CDs are ok just the radio and it seems related to the power steering. It's not the original radio cassette just a cheap Sanyo unit single din. Will a new, quality unit be better or is there some other way of over coming the problem?

Try a spare antenna.

Easier still I bought a new digital radio head unit. They don't suffer any radio interference from the cars engine/electrics.
