Looks like you've already decided on what to put in your car, but if you wanted serious performance you could do a 2gr conversion. 210kW at the crank, or a less powerful but cheaper 1mz which is 160kW at the crank standard. I bought my car with the 1mz already in it so I wont be any help on cost or effort.

Whilst not wanting to enourage drag races on the streets, you will probably find a mildly modded 3SGTE should keep up with most V8 Fords in a 0-100 race. Anything beyond that you are a sitting duck.
 
If you wanted to beat them on the quarter mile, the proper way to do it, you will need a 6cyl turbo at the very least, so Supra or Skyline, Supra is better obviously ;)

or you could just buy a holden v8.........
