Not the best pic, but you can see the 2 bars here;

One on the right (that has a bracket with the middle net mounted to it) is the one the bottom of the dash mounts to, goes between the A pillar roll cage legs

The one on the left (has the small scat tube running alog it) goes between kinda the wheel arches, which are then braced with 2 bars like a V back to the A pillar roll cage legs (so its quite strong in that area, get a big hit there my legs should be ok)

You can see one of the factory top brackets (top of the pic, center) that has been bent up flat and the plastic clip retainer removed, so the dash can bolt to it

Fabraications in Braeside, Vic, think that might be a bit far for me to travel

I think I see what they've done. I guess I'll just have to get myself back in the car and see what I can do.

Cheers for the info, sure it'll help me.

Good luck with the rest of the build, it'll be awesome

Few little updates

Still havent got all the wiring complete on the car, needed to get some of the stuff working so bought some spare connectors for all the main devices (Motec dash, PDM, VIM, GPS, SLM, ECU, UTC ect) and made up a very very rough 'bench test' loom. This loom or some connectors will be used if i have to do testing, power up things off the car ect, testing, powering up and programming other peoples gear ect.

Ah ha, it works (first time ive powered it up), started to do some basic programming. This Motec keypad has 15 buttons, each button has 3x LEDS (green, yellow and red) which can be programmed to come on for any reason, usual may be green for button our output on, yellow if output has failed, red if output has failed and has reached maximum retry attempts but can be for anything. This connects to the PDM by 4x tiny wires (2 power and 2 for the CAN bus)

Dash has come to life also. Thats one of the first pages i started to create, you can design your own pages and have however many pages you like.

Interior a bit of a mess with temporary wires everywere

Was at a Motec seminar on the weekend, getting deeper into the new dashes/loggers, display creator, i2 Pro data analysis software and T2 telemetry.

Started to mock up a new lighter intrusion beam, wont do much in a smash, its main purpose is to have the tow strap in a position i need (bottom of the triangle bit in the middle) and have a little bit of protection while no bar is on for damage to the radiator and heat exchanger ect if it rolled on a trailer on garage door ect.
There is a bit more to it, few parts need to be CNC cut up then all tig welded up.

Removed the rear metal 'P' tow hook as i kept hitting it when walking past the car, plus will get bent up easy if i had a tap there, put a webbing loop instead, much lighter also.

Man your test gear is wayyy nicer than anything I have in use on my car.

Brendo you are an artist ;-)

Your gunna be so thankful for the can keypad for writing your config on the pdm. It is sla hell of a lot simpler that way. That said, your going to have to allocate a fair bit of time for writing it, same with the dash config.

Im cursing i was unable to go to the public or dealer seminars due to other commitments. The seminar hasnt convinced you to update from the m880 to a m1 series? Im in the process of converting mine to an m130 at the moment (because street car.)

If you got the dash creator upgrade for your dash, i highly recommend you keep the default warm up page in there, it is so so useful.

Yeah been programming alot of logic to get the momentary buttons to toggle to latch on/off ect, thats all easy enough, started some of the programming up of in/outputs, lots of normal logics, some others like start cut with delays (alot of outputs will turn off when starting, except obviously fuel, ecu, ign stuff, just to give starter the best chance of some juice if the batt is bit flat, then stagger when they come on so theres not a big surge, ie wiper motor can come on 1 sec after, if it was on of course, w2a pump again soon, rad fans 5 & 7 secs for example) plus few other tricks.

Got the KP talking to the PDM, PDM to the dash (via templates) plus VIM, SLM, CAN GPS ect to the dash, need help setting some CAN templates, so dont have dash to PDM, ECU to anything ect yet, so cant setup alot until i get all these CAN messages working and channels working.

Yes i have dash creator upgrade, so far have several pages, some just chockers of numbers like the default warmup.

Yeah. Have fun with the custom data sets (remember to put the right number of channels in the data set or the pdm wont recieve it) and have fun messing around with the scaler factors, they arent exactly perfect. If you have boost up/down buttons on the can pad, they have to go to the ecu via the dash.
Indicators and wipers are the biggest pain to setup.
Its amazing how quickly you chew through the 200 processes as well.

I also on a few setups for stuff like the lift pump button have it configured for multiple functions ie. Press for overiding the pump off (and bring up the orange light) hold for prime (after servicing surge tank and filters to prevent dry running main pumps) or an overide button (press for fuel system disable, hold for ignition disable) which is handy when doing firmware updates, or large configs with ignition on in car (not really a problem for you having a bench rig.)
