Hey mate,

Twas really good to chat to you on sunday and pick your brains a bit,
I have never seen the sort of attention to detail that is displayed in your car in any of Australian motorsport I've see/ worked on.  This includes V8's, Porsche GT3's, Radicals, west, or F3.

Would love to get the wiring guys from the FSAE team to have a look at this at see how motorsport wiring should be done.

Which part of town are you based in, I would be more than willing to help out.
Ph: 0432876396

Have a good one,
Mat

Saw your car on Sunday, Just cannot imagine you are doing this level of tuning and modification under your garage.

Thanks!

Ha ha yeah, well most of whats been done has been done in a exposed carport! I had to vacuum my car and sweep the ground more then i did any work.

Thankfully this is not the case anymore, its now in a much more clean and secure location.

Another pic of my car from the MR2 30th anniversary meeting here in Melbourne, of Travis, Nathan and me pushing the car around. Not sure who took this pic, was in the MR2 club track record newsletter today.

Not much progress really, little things getting done but as always i find more things to do or change as work on it, so always backwards, never forwards. Altho i have been sorting out some stuff for the car, its more just more tools, equipment ect.

Moved out of parents house, so moved into new house, then Christmas, beofre that had to sort out a new work van and deck all that out, so have had not much spare time or spare money.

Yesterday I wired up the other end of my steering wheel quick release, the hub end. The quick release is a Krontec with a 22 pin deutsch autosport connector inside it, so I can take the wheel off without disconnecting wiring, the hub end has the curly cord (22 wires) which allows me to steer and then another autosport connector that will connect to the main cabin loom.

I will be running DBW (drive by wire) so no throttle cable, instead a sensor on the pedal. Last week i wired up and bench tested my Penny & Giles DBW sensor. Its a custom order as they all are, ie custom rotation angles and output directions ect, dual output, contactless sensor.

Pulled the rear window out, will be replaced with aluminium, not really for weight (the glass is actually pretty light) but i need to be able to drill some holes in it, mounting some stuff to it ect, im not crazy i have some reasons....
I wouldnt be able to see out the back anyway as i want to run a sloped engine lid, either like what Glenn (Admin) has or even just perspex.

All this said, i will be running a rear view camera, with a Ikan 5.6" LCD monitor inside.

Few things may be in the works, ive been in talks with Bosch Motorsport about there new Collision Avoidance System (CAS-M Light) which is, basicaly, a small radar unit that outputs data via CAN, this will track cars behind you, and will show warning LEDS on my Motec dash or SLM when cars are approaching from behind, how far back they are and what side they will pass me on. Currently no race cars in Australia has this.

More info can be found on the youtube clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzpSy-eJRi4

Its the CAN based version of there other unit, the CAS-M unit which shows the info on the rear view camera screen, as devolped in conjunction with Pratt & Miller for the Corvette 6CR running in lemans ect, the system has been installed in several other cars, in Australia it has only been used in the Fiat Arbarths that ran in the bathurst 12hr last year. Very nice piece of kit but out of my budget. watch that one here.... amazing the technology being used that most people dont realise.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zc6yNSMQsq4
