Hi all,
Just bought my first mr2, 1996 3S-GE with around 300,000km on it
Needs a timing belt change and it has leaking gasket/seals so I'm pulling the engine out. Just wanting any ideas of anything/everything I should also replace while shes out and what I should be careful of cheers ;D

Engine upper cleaner, oil cleaner before removing engine.
Full service; timing items, oil pump, water pump, thermostat.
Remove, ultrasonic clean and flow test injectors.
Check valve clearnace.
Remove / clean manifolds.
Replace ignition items, distributor, rotor, leads, spark plugs.
Slight advance of timing.
Preference is Toyota red coolant.
Change gearbox oil.
Change brake and clutch fluid.
Inspect shifter cables.
That’s kinda how I would approach it.

If you see any past evidence of silicon gloop applied to gaskets, drop the oil pan and check that the oil pump pickup is clean.

I would do a compression test before removing the engine. I suspect it's too late....   :o)

How's it going, Joelcog? Any problems? What did you end up doing, in the end?
