I am an electronics technician, so I may be available to perform this fix for people in Sydney. Let me do mine first, and I will let you all know if I am prepared to do it for others too.

Admin do you want a set of caps from my Digi-key order to do you st205 ecu? They are likely exactly the same.

No thanks. I was going to pop into Jaycar on Saturday and pick some up. I have a spare stock ST205 ECU that I will do first. The one in the car is a Blitz.

I would be wary of using Jaycar caps, should really be using good quality like Panasonic if you want it to last 👍

I took the advice of others on those threads I linked and went with quality brands that you can't get at Jaycar.

105C rated low ESR caps from the 4 reputable Japanese capacitor companies Rubycon, Nippon Chemi-con, Panasonic & Nichicon.

👍 I am an electronics technician as well and don’t really rate the stuff from jaycar or altronics, only use them if it’s a quick fix and not mission critical

I've had no success getting hold of Michael (guy who replaces ECU caps) - nicks link above.
I've tried contacting him with no response thru both Gumtree, eBay and also sent him a SMS. Has anyone else had similar issues?

Hi Electronics Experts,
Where do you buy the quality brands of Caps, if not Altronics & Jaycar ?

It is true that the higher temperature electrolytic caps are better (i.e. 105c) though you can still go with cheaper options if you choose a higher voltage rating.
For example, if you have a 10uF 50V, you can go with a 10uF 63V or 100V. These will have a similar life to a 10uF 50V 105c cap. Higher voltage types are generally larger, so if there is lots of room, it is OK to go for a 10uF 63V or 100V cap from Jaycar.

There are sellers on eBay that sell the 105c caps.
